THUMBS DOWN:: The Minnesota Department of Transportation has set hearings in early February, in Courtland and in Nicollet, to give the public a chance to have input on the draft environmental impact statement for the rebuilding of the highway to four lanes between Mankato and New Ulm.
While it is nice that MnDOT is holding these hearings — one of the first steps on getting the road widened — we suspect that by the time the funding is available for the actual construction the project will be unnecessary. At the rate the state is going on its highway projects, people will probably be getting around in flying cars, rendering paved roads a thing of the past.
