Minnesota GOP Steps Up to Defend Far Left Conspiracy Theories
I mean really, we're talking about following in the footsteps of Ron Carey and his press release templates.
I honestly didn't think things could get much worse under the dynamic duo of Tony Sutton and Michael Brodkorb...
Oh how I was wrong!
In very calculated and well thought out act of strategery, Sutton and Brodkorb launched an ad campaign in Minnesota's 7th Congressional District, taking shots at Congressman Peterson for his remarks on 9-11 conspiracy theories and constituent outreach.
Now, when you hear folks saying Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the Government were behind the attacks on 9-11, what do you thing of?
I think of left-wing...well...wacko's. I do.
So, in a district that Peterson won by more than 40% in 2008 and probably the third most conservative district in the State, Sutton and Brodkorb decide to come to the defense of left wing wackos?
Brilliant!
Didn't Seifert and other House Republicans try to get rid of RINO's the past few years? I guess they're really stretching that big tent concept...

I'm waiting for Ashton Kutcher to show up anytime now...
I like Congressman Peterson, and while he's too conservative at times for my tastes, he represents the enormous 7th CD well. In fact, the GOP attacks on Peterson's comments may actually serve to prove to those on the right that Peterson IS a better representative for them, after all his dissing of those damn left wing wackos.
Peterson may end up in better shape after the 5 figure ad buy! I can see the McLeod County GOP folks lining up to support Peterson now, especially after Peterson came out against those damn liberals!
But it gets better.
Ryan Flynn and the clowns at MDE think they're having a field day with Congressman Peterson's statements.
Once again, this has been a great week for the MNGOP putting pressure on Congressman Peterson. While part of me didn't want to create this post and allow the MN GOP to continue their nonsense, my zeal for going after the MN GOP surpassed that.
So, anyone else feel better about the new direction of the Minnesota GOP?

Would $140 million on hurricane monitoring be ok though?
I was thinking about the Jindal speech last night...it made me think of a former CD 6 candidate...
Anyway, his rant on volcano monitoring made little sense to me.
I lived in Washington State for nearly 5 years and have visited Mt. St. Helens on numerous occasions. I am always amazed at the beauty of the mountain. Each time I visited, I became more and more fascinated.
Mt. Rainier is a stratovolcano about an hour away from Seattle. Mt. Rainier always loomed large on the horizon for those of us in the Seattle/Tacoma area. Places like Puyallup and other places located along the rivers that run from Mt. Rainer are adorned with "Volcano Evacuation Route" signs.
I've seen books and other sources that describe what would happen if a Mt. St. Helens type volcanic explosion would occur at Mt. Rainier. The pyroclastic flow would quickly envelop Seattle. Mud flows would virtually wipe out large portions of the downtown area. Millions of people would be impacted by a Mt. Rainier eruption.
So, Jindal doesn't really care about $140 million for volcano monitoring. But the risk is real.
Perhaps we should cut funding for hurricane monitoring.
JINDAL: While some of the projects in the bill make sense, their legislation is larded with wasteful spending. It includes $300 million to buy new cars for the government. $8 billion for high speed rail projects such as magnetic levitation line from Las Vegas to Disney Land. And $140 million for something called ‘volcano monitoring.’And Jindal did nothing during his time in Congress to curb spending in Washington.
Instead of monitoring volcanoes, what Congress should be monitoring is the eruption of spending in Washington, DC.
So, last night was a eye opener of sorts. It's clear that Jindal simply read the speech given to him, poorly at that. It's also clear that 34 months before the first 2012 primaries and caucuses, Jindal is done.

Are you smarter than a 5th Grader? Wright County Edition Part II
While this is a slow to evolve series, it's somewhat popular.
Here comes Part II.
Yesterday I commented on a post over at WCR, a post designed to take a shot at Democrats.
Eric Z checked the math in Drew's story, his post fails 1st grade math, let alone 5th grade.
Dude buys a dying horse for $100.
Sells 500 raffle tickets at $2. $1000.
Refunds $2 for the dead horse.
Profit $998.
Let's do the math...
-$100 for the horse
+$1000 for the raffle
-$2 in refunds.
Looks like a "profit" of $898.
Bluewoman points out that the raffle tickets would have cost about $60 and wonders whether dude got a license to raffle...
After 8 years of the Bush economy, it's no wonder the math is so challenging.
Congresswoman Bachmann can't look 20 to 25 year olds in the face because of the amount of the bailout and the burden that will be placed on them in the future. Yet, she supported the wasted spending in Iraq.
If math is hard for conservatives when it's only in hundreds and thousands, imagine the horror of dealing with billions and trillions...
Oh I love math...

"Ann Coulter" on SNL
She went on to defend the Bush administration's position on torture.
"I love torture. I think torture is good and Christian-y, and history will bear this out. It may take 500 years," 'Coulter' said. "But I will still be here, leading a band of survivors in a post-apocalyptic America where we battle against gangs of Osama bin-single mothers. And I shall cackle and cackle that you ever doubted George Bush."
When Meyers questioned Bush's response to Hurricane Katrina, 'Coulter' offered a swift rejoinder.
"Sure, it was bad," she said "But think about it - we don't know how many hurricanes President Bush prevented."

A letter to the Red States
Dear Red States,
We've decided we're leaving. We intend to form our own country, and we're taking the other Blue States with us. In case you aren't aware, that includes Hawaii , California , Oregon , Washington , Minnesota , Wisconsin , Michigan , Illinois , New York , and all of the Northeasternstates. After this election, we'll be adding Colorado and New Mexico .
We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation, especially to the people of our new country - Nuevo California . To sum up briefly: You get Texas , Oklahoma and all the slave states; we get stem cell research, the best beaches, and the best ski resorts.
We get Elliot Spitzer; you get Ken Lay. We get the Statue of Liberty; you get Dollywood. We get Intel and Microsoft; you get WorldCom. We get Stanford,Harvard, Princeton, Yale , Cal Tech, MIT and Columbia ; you get Ole' Miss.
We get 85 percent of America 's venture capital and entrepreneurs; you get Alabama . We get two-thirds of the tax revenue; you get to make the red states pay their fair share.
Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than that of the Christian Coalition, we get a bunch of happy families and you get a bunch of under-educated single moms.
Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and anti-war, and we'll need all of our citizens back from Iraq at once. If you need people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They apparently have kids they're willing to send to their deaths for no purpose, and they don't mind if you don't televise their kid's caskets coming home. We do wish you success in Iraq and hope that those Weapons of Mass Destruction turn up for you, but we're not willing to spend any more of our money in Bush's Quagmire.
With the Blue States, we will control 80 percent of the country's fresh water, 90 percent of pineapple and lettuce, 92 percent of the nation's fresh fruit, 97 percent of America 's quality wines (you can serve French wines at your state dinners), 90 percent of all cheese, 90 percent of the high tech industry, most of the U.S. low-sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, and all the Ivy League and Seven Sister schools.
We also get New England ,the Great Lakes and Yosemite , thank you very much.
In the Red States, you will have to cope with 88 percent of all obese Americans and their projected health care costs, 92 percent of all U.S. mosquitoes, 100 percent of tornadoes, 94 percent of hurricanes, 99 percent of Southern Baptists, virtually 100 percent of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, and Clemson. Additionally, in the Red States, 38 percent actually believe Jonah was swallowed by a whale; 62 percent believe life is sacred unless it involves the death penalty or semi automatic gun ownership; 44 percent claim that evolution is only a theory; 53 percent insist that Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11; and 61 percent of you crazy bastards believe you have higher moral standards than those of us on the left.
By the way, we're taking all the good pot, too. You get that dirt weed from Mexico and Kansas ditches.
Peace out,
The Blue States

Primary Day today (Last Prissy Faris Ad Day)
My favorite ad of the morning though?
The McCain-Palin "Maverick" "I stopped the Bridge to Nowhere" ad.
Really?
Nothing like a flat out lie in a political ad to start the day!
Happy Last Prissy Faris Ad Day!
GOTV...help Dean Barkley win this thing!

No more Barracuda
Good news! Cease and desist McCain-Palin!
Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart said Thursday night that Universal Music Publishing and Sony BMG have sent a cease and desist notice to the McCain-Palin campaign over their use of 'Barracuda.'No word from Buckcherry on Palin's use of "Crazy Bitch", but I think Bachmann may have beat her to it.
"We have asked the Republican campaign publicly not to use our music. We hope our wishes will be honored," the group said in a statement that said they "condemn" the use of the song at the Republican convention.

State Fair: Day 1 Fun
Priscilla Lord Faris had a few clowns hanging around outside her booth later in the day today!
Found the Dean Barkley for US Senate booth, which was consistently busy throughout the day.
Barkley talking to some high school students who will cast their first votes in the September 9th Primary.
Talking health care!
Caught Steve Sarvi on the Jack Rice show. He dominated once again, talking about Iraq and the energy crisis.
Marty Seifert was in the GOP booth, touting welfare abuse and getting his minions fired up about that.
Al Franken's booth was overstaffed until Franken showed up, then a group of 50 people swarmed the booth, getting pictures and autographs.
Priscilla Lord Faris had a booth placed near the DFL booth ( I am told that PLF has actually not placed her booth in the correct location, that she simply plopped it down within the DFL booths sight line) that was pretty quiet.
Jack Aldrich had a lonely booth as well.
Lots of Obama stickers and shirts. McCain had a good presence, but I wonder how many Minnesotans will put up with someone who does not know how many houses he owns?
All told, long fun day! Bluewoman and I will make our annual State Fair appearance next week!

Bachmann contributor and sexual enhancers!
Better yet...William Hudlow gave to Senator Coleman's campaign back in 2002 and has given more than $15,000 in contributions to the Minnesota GOP.
We'll be following the happenings over at Liberal in the Land of Conservative on this breaking story.

Annandale on the 4th
Jim was the only candidate working the parade route before the parade. We handed out some stickers on my side of the street and promoted him as best as we could. We're anxiously awaiting walking in the Monticello parade with Jim!
Dean Urdahl made an appearance. Bluewoman's family was pleased that I had no reaction to Urdahl's presence, although I think he was avoiding us.
Urdahl didn't have the large contingent he usually has. Hmmm.
Bruce Anderson followed Urdahl in the parade and was pretty blah as well. Slapped hands with a few kids and shouted to a guy named "Dick" in the crowd. I confirmed for Bluewoman's family that Representative Anderson was not referring to me.
Eleven units into the parade and with all the politicians done, I announced I was ready to go. My plea was met with an immediate veto
The Oslo Norway band was great, as were the rest of the bands that participated. Bands are my favorite part of parades!
Bluewoman caught me taking a cat nap during the parade.
Because...Da Band showed up! In case you have never heard of Da Band, they are a group of highly talented musicians who provide a great deal of entertainment at local parades.
