I really do hate to rip on Barkley, I want more third party representation, especially in Washington.

But that videos just not very good, it seriously lacks the panache of Jesse Ventura.

When it comes to judging his potential for actually winning, I don't care where he stands on the issues, and I don't care if he won the debates.

He can only win by getting out low information voters who don't watch debates or read much of anything. He needs to be able to appeal to all of the meatheads and slackers who wouldn't bother to vote, except for a candidate like Ventura who can get their attention and respect.

A bunch of talking and good ideas isn't going to do that for him. He needs superior marketing and superior word of mouth. I still have yet to see a single sign or sticker, I still have yet to hear a word about Barkley outside of the media and the internet...

I understand the guy doesn't have deep pockets and can't afford to be on TV aside from this one ad. But it is the airtime that is expensive. He should have ten videos all of the Net that are way higher quality than this one. And he should have a decent website, and some sort of presence in the social networks; and more importantly, some sort of presence out there, on the ground...

He has not put together a US Senate grade campaign. All of the candidates for the House of Reps, aside from Collin Peterson, have better marketing than this, as do many candidates at the state level!

I understand the polling numbers can be deceiving for independents. Ventura may have been tracking low, but it was plain to see that his support on the ground was strong, no matter what the numbers and the media said.

You have a lot to say about Barkley, but nothing to say about how he is going to actually reach these voters in 5 short days. Please, by all means, convince me that he is anything but a spoiler...

JLeuze, you are dead on. This crummy ad is a great representation of a crummy campaign.

Blue Man, what am I missing? Do you think this is a decent ad?

Decent? I'm not sure. I think it's on par with the same crappy ads from Franken (talking fish) and Coleman (bowlers). Frankly, I expected more from a Bill Hillsman ad, but it's what they have. I like the New York middle class line. When's the last time Norm or Al have ever been middle class. Other than that, it is missing on some points.

Yeah, Barkley's got a good argument, I'll give you that. His roots and bank account do have more in common with your average voter.

It just lack polish, and that certain "something". And of course, it needed to be out in the wild two months ago on YouTube...
