The number of US veterans who died in 2008 because they lacked health insurance was 14 times higher than the US military death toll in Afghanistan that year, according to a new study.Veterans Day for me is a time to reflect.
I reflect on the good times and the great times of my 11 years of Active Duty military service.
I remember my friends that are no longer with us.
I think about the men and women who suffered through so much that they felt the only choice they had was to take their own life.
I think about all of those homeless Veterans out there, struggling day to day.
And I realize just how lucky I am...
