TOTAL EMBARASSMENT FOR BRIAN DAVIS: 1/3 OF REPUBLICANS REJECT DAVIS

Brian Davis defeated Dick Day Tuesday evening with Day capturing 33% of the vote. 1/3 of CD 1 Republicans rejected Brian Davis and his campaign of exaggerations and attacks on Congressman Walz.

Some say that 35% of DFL voters not voting for Franken is a problem. Surely then, 33% of GOP voters rejecting Brian Davis is equally problematic, probably more so for Davis since...well...dude has no money (other than his revolving loan) and no one knows who he is.

Davis is a failure...

*Update* Thanks Aaron...

Adding to the Lipstick on a Pig edition of BMRD, Brian Davis lost as many counties in CD 1 as Al Franken did statewide. Davis lost Steele, Dodge, LeSuer and Waseca Counties to Dick Day.

Davis and Day observation

On my way down through the Fighting First last week...I made a stark observation.

With the Brian Davis noise about his big "grassroots" effort, where the hell are all the lawn signs?

Going to Lake City for a golf scramble...I was anxious to see the "ground swell" first hand.

Once again...Brian Davis and Dick Day disappoint Blueman...

Bachmann and Kline AWOL from FarmFest

Larry Schumacher has some excellent coverage of the Congressional debate at FarmFest!

Part I
Part II

Bachmann and Kline must have thought this was the sort of event that occurs while one is on vacation...

The fact that Congresswoman Bachmann and John Kline failed to attend this event is disturbing. Their opponents attended the event and did a wonderful job. Both Elwyn Tinklenberg and Steve Sarvi left the debate as two candidates for Congress who impressed.

Bachmann and Kline are running scared...scared to engage Tinklenberg or Sarvi in a debate format. I know a couple of O-6's that would be disappointed in the fact that the Colonel went AWOL while the Sergeant shined.

Tinklenberg on Bachmann's Farm Bill Vote:
Tinklenberg – Would’ve vote for it. Opponent did not vote for it, which may explain why she’s not here today.

But then again, she hasn’t been with you all that much all along.

Schumacher also posted the closing remarks for each panel member: go check them out at Larry's blog at the SC Times!

Ollie over at Bluestem Prairie also has some great detailed coverage of the event, be sure to head over there and check out her great work too!

Walz Big Lead Over Davis and Day

Bluestem Prairie has the scoop!

It's early...but...

A 35 point margin over Dick Day and a 40 point margin over Brian Davis!

With the focus of Brian Davis being on the franking privileges and campaign finance of Congressman Walz, I suspect things will not get much easier for the dynamic duo of Day and Davis as this race gets closer to the September primary.

The Congressman polled at 57% against Day and 60% against Davis. In my humble opinion, it's because Tim Walz has done an outstanding job representing the First Congressional District in Washington. His constituent outreach has been unmatched!

I'm anxiously awaiting polling numbers from the 2nd, 3rd, and 6th!

CD 1 Coverage: Davis and Day debate

I was sent some footage from some recent Brian Davis and Dick Day campaign activity down in CD 1.

South Park - Turd Sandwich vs. Giant Douche

Needless to say, I think Congressman Walz is pretty safe...

Bachmann's FEC Report

Check it out here.

Just over $216,000 raised in the 4th Quarter, $81,000 from Political Action Committee's, or around 37% of her campaign fundraising this quarter.

About $1.24 million in total receipts, roughly $387,500 in total coming from Political Action Committee's, about 31% of her total take thus far.

Thus far, Bachmann has just over $796,000 cash on hand.

A deeper breakdown of Bachmann's PAC gains is interesting.

Koch PAC, the pipeline company putting another line through the heart of her district has given her a total of $10,000, $5,000 this quarter.

Walmart, Home Depot, Qwest, Pepsi, Northwest Airlines, and Federal Express also provided large sums of money to Bachmann.

Big Tobacco gave to Bachmann as well, RJ Reynolds: $2000 total, $1000 this period.

The Financial/Insurance Industry is Bachmann's biggest corporate contributor though.

AFLAC
American Express
American Financial Services PAC
American Institute of CPA's (Is this where Mark Kennedy got his new gig?)
Bank of NY Mellon Corp
Citigroup
Countrywide
Financial Services Institute
Financial Services Roundtable
Genworth Financial Inc.
Hartford Advocates Fund
Natl Assoc. of Mutual Insurance

At least $27,000 have come from these PAC's. No wonder Congresswoman Bachmann is ignorant of the home foreclosure plight in Central Minnesota, she's being paid off by Countrywide and other financial groups to look out for their best interests, pushing her constituents under the bus.

Her expenditures are interesting as well.

In the 4th Quarter alone, Bachmann spent $21,000 on fundraising consulting through Fundraising Associates of MN.

Her campaign also spent over $25,000 in PAC fundraising expenses through Mike Gula & Associates, in Washington DC.

I took a brief look at Dick Day and Randy Demmer's stuff as well.

How can the mainstream media portray an actual race in the "Fighting First" when Day has about as much as Tinklenberg and Olson while Demmer has raised about half of what any of these other campaigns has?

We have a race in the 6th!
